8/31/2008 -=[ Swing to Seattle ]=-上周窜到西雅图晃了一圈，见到大学同学了。我们第一天去了Mt. Rainier 国家公园，第二天参观了波音飞机工厂，因为同学在微软，我又在跑到微软总部胡闹了一下，哈哈。 Mt. Rainier，一个火山，是西雅图附近最高的山。 西雅图离太平洋不远，湿度较大，水汽在山顶遇冷形成云冠。这样的山峰，在干燥的Calgary不多见。 其实Mt. Rainier要远看才壮观。这是4年前，我在温哥华，北温的山坡上看到的Mt. Rainier，这么远看去，像海市蜃楼一样。 Microsoft® Ducks 微软还在修新office。同学带我参观了他的office，用一句话形容，就是typical, nothing special. 离开微软，前往波音公司，左边的大厂房就是我们常坐的波音飞机诞生的地方。这个厂房是按容积算，世界最大的建筑。我们在里面也参观了，很过瘾，可惜不让照相。 波音厂房边上停着不少各个航空公司来检修的飞机 波音tour的gallery，能学到不少新知识。右边有段波音最新的787的机身，整体全碳纤维的，是我见到的最大的民用碳纤维部件。 在西雅图呆了两天，买了三件衣服，一顶帽子，一条裤子，一双登山鞋，一条烟，捡了三块石头带回了Calgary。石头拿回来经公司地质专家鉴定，是火山岩。我把一块放到办公桌上，冒充geologist，  hoho8/28/2008 -=[ Ricoh GX100 Surgery ]=-前段时间理光GX100的液晶屏出问题了，经常不亮，要拍拍机身才能亮。GX100没有光学取景器，我又一般不带View Finder，要拍照，有时液晶屏怎么都拍不亮，急死人啊！实在忍受不了了，想想这个问题应该不难解决，所以决定自己修。 先拆机。没拆过，边拆边摸索 终于费了半天劲，把液晶屏拆下来了 发现原来是一根排线插口没有压下！！！我吐血 压下排线接口，就正常了 我一边拆机一边骂小日本，什么破东西。这种产品缺陷很明显，就是组装工人粗心大意造成的，骂着骂着我翻过机身底部一看，Made In China，顿时无语...... 8/20/2008 -=[ Awesome Mt.Yamnuska ]=-前两天和Ken去爬Mt. Yamnuska，虽然只用了7个小时，强度不是很大，但是体验绝对不一样。第一次在落基山顶看日落，第一次玩碎石滑雪，第一次在山顶用中文留言，第一次夜里下山，总之还很不错。
[Ken and I spend 7 hours on Mt. Yamnuska this Sunday, 5 hour up, 2 hour down(so quickly because of scree skiing). ] 这个是在停车场看Mt.Yamnuska，黄色箭头代表我们要走的大致路线，从停车场到峰顶海拔提升800米。 [The yellow arrows indicate the way we about to go. There will be 800m elevation gain to the top.]
开始的一段Hiking没啥新意，只是炎热的天气和陡坡对Ken有点影响，他走一段就要休息一下，我因为有登山杖，就像有另外两条腿，所以爬起来倒挺轻松。顺便提一句，爬山或者强度大一点的徒步，登山杖非常必要，这一点，想想两驱车和四驱车的区别就能理解了。 Mt.Yamnuska既适合徒步，又适合爬山，也适合攀岩。我们选择的是一条给攀岩者的路线，所以适当的爬山和攀岩是避免不了的。 [Mt. Yamnuska is a good place for hiking, scrambling and climbing. And we did enjoy the fun of the gravity.]
有时能看到攀岩者在这里失事的纪念牌。 [But some climber was killed by gravity.]
我们在半山腰的时候，一大块乌云在头挺山峰上移动，里面夹杂着不少闪电。我们通过闪电和雷声的时间差来计算这块雷雨云和我们的距离。算来算去，觉得闪电貌似不会打到我们头上，于是我们不理会，继续前行。 [A big lightning storm was ahead of us. We were calculating the distance by counting the seconds between lightning and thunder. The calculation result indicated that we won't be striked unless we have super bad luck. So up we went.]
这个就是超级好玩的碎石滑雪(Scree Ski)的斜坡了，大约有1km长。碎石滑雪类似于滑雪，只是把雪换成直径小于1cm的厚厚一层碎石就可以了，感觉和滑雪很像。 [Do you know what is super fun? Winning a lottery and scree skiing. This is one of the scree ski slopes in Mt. Yamnuska, it's about 1km long.] 快到山顶了，我和Ken选择了不同的线路。其实准确说是Ken选择了路，是去主峰的，而我选的方向是没有路的，因为我打算先到旁边的峰上看看。这是我的角度看Ken。 [Ken and I chose different path. Well, precisely speaking, Ken chose a path, not me. Ken was directly heading to the main peak, and I was curious about every peak.] 这是Ken的角度看我。 [This is the view from Ken.] 我这里的峰顶有块牌子，上写Live Love Laugh。 [I saw a plate on one peak, with words :" LIVE LOVE LAUGH".]
来张刺激的。这里个垂直悬崖，距离下面有200多米，下面就是scree ski的大斜坡。我站在崖边，心想要是有个滑翔伞跳下去一定很有趣。 [This is scary, really. 600 feet drop to the bottom. I was thinking it must be very cool if I jumped off with a paraglider.]
到主峰顶了，很高兴的是也有留言桶。这次轮到我亲自打开留言桶了，里面有不少留言还有不少笔。我跟Ken开玩笑说，不知道有没有人塞$20块钱在里面呢？ [Main peak. And excitingly, we found a message barrel, which is full of messages. I was joking with Ken that I'd like to search the bottom up, trying to find a $20 bill.] 很开心而且很有意义的是，我终于有机会用中文留言了。留言桶里面没有任何除英语外其他文字的留言，我是第一个！ [I am very happy to leave the message in Chinese. This piece of message is the first and only one that is not in English.] 我和Ken在主峰合影。 [Ken and me at Mt. Yamnuska.] 我在Mt. Yamnuska主峰留影。 [Solo.] 这时正赶上日落。 [Luckly, we could see the sun set.] 想像一下，日落时我们还在山顶，下山时自然就天黑了。我们在树林里一边大声叫：“YO! BEAR! YO! BEAR”，一边走。这很必要，你要让熊知道你来了，而不是突然吓到熊。被惊吓的熊是很危险的。终于到这个牌子了，还有1公里就能回到停车场了，Ken很开心。 [It's dark when we were getting down. We were shouting:"YO! BEAR! YO! BEAR" sometimes to make noises. This is extremely necessary, because noise will drive bears away. Don't be shy to the bears. We finally reached this signpost, and it means only 1km left to the vehicle, Ken was happy.] 这是我Scree Ski的示范，看起来挺吓人，但是别怕，玩起来很有趣。这样的斜坡不止一条，这是靠近峰顶的一条。 [Scree ski demo, so much fun.] 我们快到山顶，还遇到不少可爱的山鸡在吃蚂蚁。 [We met some birds eating ants. Ken was using some birds language to say "how you guys doing?"]
PS:后来Ken转了一封信给我，挺有趣的：
[Ken send me an interesting email.] From: Ken d'Albenas 8/13/2008 -=[ 刷河 ]=-以前在北京下了班经常骑车刷街，一般都是西三环，长安街，东三环，然后顺北三环回家。而今天下了班刷了一次Bow River，从Downtown到Bearspaw Dam，来回40km，比在北京的路线长一点。其实我很久没有骑车在Calgary城里晃了，这次是因为公司组织周六在Bow River上漂流，我觉得还是事先探探路比较好，看看停车场，哪儿扔筏子，哪儿收筏子，途中有没有激流什么的。今天走的路线一半我以前都刷过，不过走后面一半新路，感觉还是挺不错的。 Bow River上有很多桥，这座桥我第一次走。 路上无话，一直到了Bearspaw Dam的坝顶，正好赶上日落，风景还不错。这张是用GX100的RAW格式拍的，果然比JPEG好太多了，JPEG拍出来的回来一看，完全没有调整的空间。 一路上比较贪玩，回到Downtown已经天很黑了，拐到14 Street的桥上拍了一张Downtown的夜景。这张是手动模式，曝光30秒，光圈5.7，ISO 80，JPEG模式。感觉GX100虽然比不上单反，但是拍夜景还凑合，回来去去噪，基本也能用。 这次GX100经历了从日落前到天黑的场景，感觉表现最差的就是日落前光线黯淡的时候，JPG不咋地。GX100 RAW的表现倒是出乎我的意料。 8/2/2008 -=[ Moose Moutain Biking ]=-Moose Mountain是我一年前就想骑车爬的山。一年前的7.1就曾尝试过，结果以失败而告终；而一个月前去爬Prairie Mountian，看见对面的Moose Mountian，更是加深了一定要骑车爬一次的念头。这周是长周末，放假三天，由于下周一另外有活动安排，于是今天周六，赶紧去爬一次，算是还还愿，然后周日还能恢复一下。
[Moose Mountain is the one that I've been trying to conquer with my mountain bike. I gave a shot a year ago, but it's failed because I was running out of water before I even got close to it. A month ago when I scrambled up to the top of Prairie Mountain, I was looking at the Moose Mountain summit and thinking I must give another shot.] 不像上次那样，直接骑车从卡尔加里出发，这次要把车开到山脚下再骑车爬了。Freelander和我的山地车从来没合过影，今天合一张。 [I will never ride from Calgary like last time. This time, my vehicle brings my bike and myself to the Moose Mnt.]
开始爬了，强度不算很大，路程也不算很长，6公里，海拔提升450米。不过由于路面大多是碎石路，骑起来还是比较困难。可能是有段日子没骑山地车越野了，觉得心里没底似的，很多坡都不敢冲了。 [I am completing the rest 6 km biking and 1 km hiking to the top, with 450m of elevation gain. Some downhill parts look a little bit scary for me, maybe because I havn't done the crosscoutry riding for a while.]
快到山顶了，坡很陡，已经没法骑车了。山上下来两个人，看我推车很辛苦，建议我就把车放在这里，并且补充说山上还有两个人，看起来很NICE，一会儿他们下来不会在意你的车的。我觉得有道理，但是总不能就把车随手扔路上吧。于是我把车推进身后的几棵树后面。（后来发现还是把车放在路边好，因为我下山的时候，不记得是哪几棵树了，找车找了很久，Faint...） [This is where I leave my bike before I hike to the top. Two hikers suggest me to leave the bike just right beside the trail, while I think it might be better to hide my bike in the trees. But later I realize it's a bad idea because I don't remember where I hide the bike when I return. I have to wander up and down to look for it. Holy crap!]
看到山顶的瞭望台了，还挺远的。其实不算太远，但是我穿的是骑车的锁鞋，爬起来极为不爽。 [I could see the fire lookout. It looks not very far, but it's farther to me, because instead of hiking boots, I am wearing the bike shoes, which are really uncomfortable when you have to rely on them for hiking on loose rocks.]
终于到山顶瞭望台了。这时整座山就剩我最后一个游客了，一个ranger靠在栏杆上看我慢悠悠的爬到山顶。我跟他聊了一会儿，原来他就住在这里，电是靠太阳能，水和食品都是直升机每个月送上来一次。他看起来挺开心的，因为他老婆和两个女儿（一个10岁，一个4岁）刚来住了一个月，前两天刚走。然后他说让我赶紧下山，说今天云比较多，有可能会有闪电。 [As hopefully the last visitor to the fire lookout on the top of Moose Mnt. today, I talk to the ranger for a while. I find out that the ranger does live here, not only works here. The helicopter will bring the supply once a month, the electricity is from solar cell panel, and the frige is running on the two tanks of propane. His family(wife and 2 daughters) were here and lived with him for about one month. "You'd better not hang out here," he says, "it looks like lightning is forming."]
这儿的签名簿比Loder Peak那个餐巾纸的好多了。后来下山的时候有点后悔了，觉得应该在旁边再画个五环之类的。 [Visitor's book here is way better than the paper towel Ken and I used on the top of the Lodar Peak.]
这儿是停机坪，远处就是绵绵的落基山，ranger说这些山就是他的后院。我觉得用一个词形容这些山峰最合适：山海。 [The parking apron and the propane tanks. A sea of Rocky Mountain summits fills the western horizon. "It's my back yard", says the ranger.]
最后提一下我的新相机，号称相机中的瑞士军刀的理光GX100。这个相机有着等效24-72mm的焦段，我终于不用爬山的时候带着死沉的单反或者老掉牙的佳能G5了。CF卡是为了给个尺寸的参考。 [Now it's time to show off my new gear: Ricoh GX100. It's handy, light weight and powerful. I finally could leave my DSLR and outdated Canon G5 in my home. CF card is only for reference in terms of dimension.] |
